Greetings Fellow Snowmobilers, Yesterday was a big day for the Stateline trailblazers snowmobile club and it began at 9:00a.m. with our class for the young adults wanting to get their snowmobile safety certification. The class is run by our long time instructors Pete Goepfert and Kathy Devoe, with Jon Ammon assisting with running the class. Nick Webster, local game warden, was our special guest who talked with the class. This was the second day of class for the group and it ran until 4:p.m. at which time everyone passed their tests! A big thank you to everyone that helps educate our young people on topics from safety on the trails, to appreciating the land and animals. Congratulations to all those young people entering into the sport of snowmobiling. Also at 9:00 a.m. many of our members met to work on the trails and braved the rainy, cold and muddy day to plank bridges, put up signs and pull out trucks of members who got stuck in the mud. Thanks go to those of you who withstood the conditions so that others can enjoy a safe and well-marked trail. We then went from a day of work, into a fun night as we met at Billy's Sand Trap in Brodhead for our Christmas party and to draw the winners to our raffle. People started to arrive around 6:00 p.m. and before we knew it we must have had 60-70 people there to share in the spirit of the holidays. While some of the gals ran around selling paddles for the paddle raffles we had the extra excitement of the Badger game on television all while eating the delicious hors d'oeuvres that Billy provided for the snowmobile club. Laurie Schwarzenberger also talked with many of the gals to promote and encourage them to join in the women's ride, tentatively scheduled for January 14th. Any women interested in joining, should contact Laurie. The time passed quickly and before we knew it, it was half-time of the Badger's game and time to start the drawing of the raffle tickets for the money raffle. A big thank you goes to Dusty Kubly for heading up the Christmas party and the raffle, which turned out to be very successful with the raffle bringing in some revenue to our club and the party providing great fun and camaraderie to our members. IT WAS FUN and congratulations to all of the winners. Merry Christmas and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again at our meetings and upcoming events. Check the web-site for the upcoming events.
